Classic Mostar Tour

The Classic Mostar Tour focuses upon the heart of the Old City within the UNESCO World Heritage zone. The Classic Tour is for those who are eager to learn about the history, culture and architecture of the old town as well as local customs.

One of our stops will be the iconic Stari Most and Diver’s Club with an explanation of our centuries-old bridge jumping tradition. We will wind are way through the crafts quarter and visit one of the preeminent metal-working shops for a demonstration of the artisan’s work.

A visit to one of our most beautiful mosques – Koski Mehmed Pasha - will highlight Mostar’s architectural heritage and diverse religious practices.

War(s) Tour

While much has changed over the last 25 years, evidence of the Wars of Yugoslav Succession (1992 – 1995) is still visible on the landscape of Mostar and throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. This tour will address this period of history in detail with historical reference to WWI and WWII, with particular attention given to the 2 conflicts which occurred in Mostar during this time and how it found its conclusion with the Dayton Peace Accords. We will discuss the lead up to the conflict, including a description of Yugoslavia, the causes for Yugoslavia’s dissolution and the experience of both civilians and soldiers during this time. The tour will also consider the aftermath of these conflicts, including the current socio-economic condition of Bosnia-Herzegovina, the country’s political set-up and demographic make-up, and of course, the remnants of the war seen in the surrounding landscape.

Street Art and Graffiti Tour

This is a new tour and will be available starting in May 2019! Inspired by the many questions we received about the beautiful street art produced during the now annual Street Arts Festival Mostar as well as the graffiti (“What exactly happened in 1981?”), this tour will not only introduce you to the Street Art movement here in Mostar, but share with you the stories that motivated the artwork and provide an explanation for the graffiti. By participating in this tour, you will directly contribute to the annual Street Arts Festival Mostar and the creation of new murals. A portion of the proceeds from each ticket sale will be donated directly to the funding of the Street Arts Festival Mostar, which is dependent upon donations and contribution in kind, grants, and funding campaigns!

Memorials and Monuments Tour

Yet another new tour for the 2019 season that will be available starting in May! Memorials and Monuments dating from the Yugoslav and the recent post-war period make up an important part of the landscape and tell their own story. Since we cannot fit a visit to all the fantastic memorials and monuments in Mostar during our Free Walking Tour, we decided to develop a tour that will. This tour will visit both official monuments as well as monuments that you might otherwise overlook, but have a story to tell and within which the memories of the community are embedded.
